Through mental focus, Altaïr can activate his Eagle Vision, a kind of hereditary second sight that reveals the disposition of other living beings, which he perceives as a color-coded glow:
Red — Hostile or potentially hostile towards Altaïr. Doesn't have to involve personal animus; for example, a city guard who has no beef with him but would fight to keep him from entering a building he's trying to get into would still show as red to him.
Blue — Friendly/an ally to Altaïr, or likely to be so based even if they aren't personally acquainted. If Altaïr arrived to free a group of trafficked people from slavers and met a stranger intent on doing the same, they could show as blue to him.
Gold — Assassination targets, people of special interest, crushes Altaïr wants to bang on a tower. (This is canon.) This is the color most likely to change based on context.
Gray — Neutral. Uninterested in either friendly or hostile interaction. Beings who actually are hostile or friendly but are unaffected by Eagle Vision will also show as gray to Altaïr. The visual equivalent of "results unclear; try again later."Eagle Vision does
not reveal whether someone is a 'good/bad' person; it is based solely on current intention. A member of his own tight-knit brotherhood who holds hostile intentions would appear red, while a member of an enemy faction who actively wants a truce would show as gray or blue. Color could also change in the blink of an eye if someone's intentions take a sudden, drastic change.
There is no exterior indication that Altaïr is using this ability; to the average person, he will merely seem to be extremely intuitive.
This ability can be negated by character ability, game plot or simply player preference. Please fill out the form below and post in a comment if you'd like me to assume that a particular color is typical for your character, or if you'd prefer that I never use Eagle Vision in a thread with you (or if I should always check first).
In-Character Permissions
Things that may be of interest threading with Altaïr:
Physical contact — In general, please leave room for a reaction. Altaïr is physically responsive, fast, and may make a point of avoiding casual touch.
Fighting/combat — Love it. Again, please leave room for reaction or we can talk OOCly about the shape a fight might take. I'm happy to have Altaïr lose or be outclassed when it makes sense (especially versus superpowered characters) but I don't want to undercut that in his specific area of expertise he really is That Good.
Injury — Fuck him up but ask me about really serious injuries.
Death — Talk to me first.
Mind control/mind reading/illusions — Altaïr has an innate resistance to mental manipulation. It is absolutely not impossible, especially for a powerful telepath, but he is a tougher nut to crack than the average person.
Magic — Altaïr has no special resistance to magic.
Flirting — Go for it. He is very bad at giving/receiving flirtation though.
Romance — Open to it but there is a high degree of difficulty. After losing a romantic partner to murder, Altaïr believes he will never again be able to feel strongly about someone. (He's wrong.)
Sex — Yes. He's fine going without but he's comfortable with casual sexual partners.
Medical Observations — Full-body lean muscle, developed by frequent climbing, parkour and horseback riding. Hands calloused from wielding swords and other weapons. Vertical scar crossing one side of his mouth. Left ring finger severed below the knuckle, cleanly healed for years now.Out-of-Character Permissions
Threadjacking — Network: Don't hesitate. Go for it. Logs: Check in please (unless it's clearly welcome in context.)
Backtagging — Yes. If a thread gets extremely old/will have a big impact on future events, I may want to touch base about planning an outcome or handwaving, but otherwise it's all good. Feel free to reach out to me as well if a thread is getting crusty/you want to trim some of your tagload.
Thread style — I tend to default to action brackets out of habit, but I'm genuinely fine with either that or prose. Respond to a starter with your preferred format and I will match.
Fourth walling — No to Altaïr as a video game character, yes to anything your character might know about the Crusades/the historical Assassins/relevant history in general. He may strongly dispute certain facts but that's purely an IC reaction.
CRAU — If your character knows Altaïr from a previous game and you strongly want to keep that knowledge, I'm up for talking about it, but in general I prefer to avoid this.
Warnings — I have no hard triggers/squicks.
Won't play — Romance/sex between Altaïr and anyone under 18/someone he would consider a child in their society. Anything where consent is in question (aside from mutually agreed upon sexy roleplay...this is also strongly implied canon.) Otherwise I'm up for anything.

Yes/No/Maybe So: Yes for sure!
Color: Gray. It might change if they get to know each other!
Special Notes: Nope!

Yes/No/Maybe So: Yeah!
Color: Blue!
Special Notes: She's got those divine vibes, not sure if it would influence her color-coding or not. I leave that up to you!

Yes/No/Maybe So: go for it!
Color: i think he would reliably be blue most of the time
Special Notes: nothing i can think of!

Yes/No/Maybe So: Yes go for it! Geralt doesn't often hide his intentions so it won't be a huge mystery either way
Color: Gray by default, but it'll likely change depending on context
Special Notes: Nothing I can think of. Geralt isn't human but that's not hard to tell just by looking at him and he'll flat out say so if you ask.
no subject
Yes/No/Maybe So: Largely yes. Probably should check if there's special events or circumstances (or developed CR!). Will try to remember to update any default.
Color: Default Gray and foreseeably little to change that (provided he doesn't become a target c.c). Exceptions would be Emet-Selch and Hythlodaeus. Actively attacking them will incite a preventative reaction at the very least. I take it preventative actions count as 'fight'? Say barriers, restraint spells?
Special Notes: Elidibus is prone to being a very neutral individual and not one to default to fighting. Preventative measures, observation and talking are more his thing. It may be worth asking for status.

It's more about attitude than the specific actions taken or the reason for them — if he would use barriers/restraint spells/similar things with hostility, he'd probably glow red to Altaïr, even if he would never pull a knife on him or anything. That said gray sounds like it makes sense for now, and we can always revisit based on CR & thread context.

Yes/No/Maybe So: Yes!
Color: Probably blue. Claude doesn't really have any ill will towards anyone at this point and is more interested in getting to know the other Summoned. It's more or less because he's hoping to gain as much info as he can, but basically all with friendly intent. If this ever changes based on events, CR, etc., I'm good with whatever color change is needed.
Special Notes: Claude tends to not reveal much about himself, but if there's anything in the bracket part of tags or in his info post that Altaïr would pick up on, you're welcome to use any of it and no need to ask first either!

Yes/No/Maybe So: Go for it, I'm easy-peasy~
Color: Gray with a potential to shift to blue situation depending, but she's a pretty guarded person, not often easily read.
Special Notes: Nope!

Yes/No/Maybe So: Yep!
Color: Grey to start with at least? While Emet-Selch will fight if provoked into it or his (few) genuine friends are threatened, he's just as likely to look to make allies - and notably, often takes something of a dim view of humanity as a whole, but more in a "tries to not get super involved/attached to them" sense rather than "everyone sucks" sense.
Special Notes: Emet-Selch has his own ability to see things beyond the normal, and has a permissions post over here for that.

Yes/No/Maybe So: yes
Color: grey
Special Notes: It is pretty clear Alucard isn't quite human based on his eye color and fangs (which i expect would be noticed)

Yes/No/Maybe So: Yes
Color: Grey to start!
Special Notes: As with our current thread feel free to sense Kyle's presence while he's flitting around the Gray Space close to Altaïr (and if you have any q's hit me up!)

Yes/No/Maybe So: Yes — the only exception I can think of where it might be good to ask is any event that changes typical behavior etc.
Color: Blue, probably! Jon doesn’t have ill intentions or hostility as a baseline. He would only turn hostile if people he cares about are threatened.
no subject
Yes/No/Maybe So: Probably yes? Extenuating circumstances if there's an event that super changes people's behavior or something.
Color: Blue, probably. She likes him well enough and is reasonably inclined towards friendliness towards him despite her natural guardedness.
Special Notes: I am absolutely tickled as all hell that it's canonical he sees crushes he wants to bang on a tower in gold.

Yes/No/Maybe So: Yes!
Color: Blue unless something changes over the course of their CR.
Special Notes: Hilda can be manipulative in the sense that she'll try and wiggle her way out harmless situations that would require her to do some hard work but otherwise, nothing else noteworthy!
no subject
Yes/No/Maybe So: Absolutely!
Color: Default gray, though this can change in different circumstances.
Special Notes: Len is a gambler with an incredible poker face, but is also extremely straightforward when asked directly about something.

Yes/No/Maybe So: Go wild!
Color: Crane can have friendly intentions unless provoked so saying blue for now. Will update if necessary
Special Notes: No

Yes/No/Maybe So: yes
Color: blue for now
Special Notes: nothing in particular!

Yes/No/Maybe So: Go for it!
Color: Blue!
Special Notes: Obi-Wan tends to radiate a serene and chill vibe, but I don't think that'll affect the eagle vision.
no subject
Yes/No/Maybe So: Go for it!
Color: Blue all the way.
Special Notes: Nothing that comes to mind. Vash isn't human, but I'm not sure Altaïr would be able to make note of that from Eagle Vision alone.
